The artist turns Victorian portraits into postcards of modern pop culture

Gross is in love with the past: "I really love old and vintage photographs. The Victorian era is the time in which I would like to live."

He also "puts on his characters in vintage." For example, Batman and Robin don’t put on their shiny costumes in which we are used to seeing them. Instead, they appear in masks and cloaks, in which they appeared on television screens of the 50s.
