Polar bears in the history of Germany: a collector found many strange photos with bears

With the help of modern technology, it is much easier to restore the history of cities and people over a certain period in the past. Photos are now stored in digital format, which means that they can be accessed at any time. Things are more complicated with times gone by when such technologies did not exist yet. Only thanks to collectors we have the opportunity to get acquainted with the photo evidence of bygone years. Sometimes among them are truly curious and unusual specimens. So, a collector from Germany, Jean-Marie Donat created an archive of photos from 1918-1960 and discovered one curious nuance.

It turned out that in many pictures taken in Germany in different places at different times there are polar bears.

In total, the archive found more than a thousand photos with a man in a white bear costume.

One of the assumptions: two enterprising young people in this way earned a living.

People on the streets liked to take original photographs, and the bear costume was a good incentive for this.

Children, adults, soldiers and the elderly - all were delighted with a white shaggy bear with a grin.

All of these photos are included in the 200-page TEDDYBÄR book.

For several decades, the history of the country, accompanied by a shaggy mascot.

The idea of ​​two friends was very successful.

People photographed even their pets with them.

These photos may seem ridiculous or strange to modern people, but they keep in themselves a particle of the history of that time.

Representatives of the German army and smiling American soldiers - all for many years imprinted themselves next to the bear.
